About Us

AYSO Hawaii Section 7

Aloha Mai Kakou (Welcome to all)! Section 7 is comprised of three areas (7A, 7E, and 7O) and twenty-two charter regions on four islands (Hawai’i (Big Island, Mau’i, Oahu, and Kaua’i) representing approximately 20,000 players and 4,000 volunteers. As a result of Hawai’i’s tropical climate, youth soccer is played year round, providing players with multiple opportunities to play AYSO soccer through region, area and section programs. These multiple seasons and tournaments afford players and coaches’ opportunities to put the 6th philosophy “Player Development into high gear.

MAHALO NUI LOA (Thank You) to all of Section 7’s executive members and their regional and area staff members for their hard work this past year delivering AYSO programs and training through-out the section. A special MAHALO to the section staff for their unwavering support of the areas and regions by providing higher level training and upgrades delivered in the discipline specific areas of coaching, officiating and management. Your efforts truly are KULIA IKA NU’U (Striving for Excellence).

Highlights and Accomplishments:

HERBALIFE – Section 7 continues to work collaboratively with local Herbalife distributors providing opportunities at region, area and section events to sample and learn more about their products. Additionally, more than 70% of the regions have applied the Herbalife logo to their region uniforms.

FRIENDSHIP GAMES – The Friendship Games continues to be popular playing format among the areas, regions and teams participating. These games provide fall season teams with a tournament style event (i.e., More Soccer for More Kids) where sportsmanship and fair play are emphasized. Congratulations to the Maui island regions for including a VIP component in their games format. Every participant receives a medal to recognize his or her participation and effort. It’s encouraging to watch the regions working together for a common goal, “It’s for the KIDS”.

VIP Program – VIP continues to grow and flourish. At the AYSO Kirk Banks Tournament held in March 2010, over 60 VIP players converged on the Waipi’o Soccer Park to enjoy over three hours of group activities, games, award presentations and an event highlight of “onolicious” food. Award presenters included Hawai’i’s Lieutenant Governor, James “Duke Aiona, AYSO Hall of Famer, Jack Sullivan and Kirk Banks Tournament Director, Kent Goya. MAHALO plenty to Pearl Bayes and Marilyn Ueno for their tireless efforts for coordinating the VIP event.

MEADOW GOLD – The sponsorship relationship between AYSO Section 7 and Meadow Gold continues to flourish. Meadow Gold in partnership with Foodland, a local grocery chain, conducted an in-store promotion to raise funds for AYSO. At the Kirk Banks Tournament, Meadow Gold and Foodland presented AYSO Section 7 – VIP program with a check for $5,000. MAHALO to Meadow Gold and Foodland for their support of our VIP players
